The Tschögglberg region, comprising the municipalities of Hafling, Vöran, Mölten and Jenesien, stands for nature, relaxation and conscious economic activity. More and more businesses are turning to renewable energies and energy-efficient solutions.
But what does this look like in practice?
A recent survey provides exciting insights into the energy supply of tourist businesses – and shows how the municipalities are also contributing to the energy transition.

Energy sources used by tourism businesses
A survey of 52 businesses from all four municipalities provides some interesting insights:
Many hosts are already using renewable energy sources, energy-efficient technology and digital control systems – a strong sign of the path towards a climate-friendly future.
Wood, sun & smart systems – the most important findings:

  • Heat from wood and sun: Logs, pellets, wood chips and solar thermal energy are the most commonly used energy sources for heat generation.
  • Electricity from photovoltaics & green electricity: Many businesses generate their own electricity or purchase certified green electricity.
  • Energy-efficient renovation: Numerous buildings have already been renovated – from insulation to window replacement.
  • Automation and monitoring: Heating, lighting and cooling are increasingly controlled digitally and energy consumption is monitored regularly.
The municipalities on the Tschögglberg are also increasingly focusing on sustainable energy supply. Public buildings are partly heated with pellets or other wood-fired heating systems, while heating oil continues to be used in some cases. Electricity is largely supplied by regional providers who supply hydroelectric green electricity. In addition, photovoltaic systems on municipal buildings contribute to the self-production of electricity – including schools, sports halls and leisure facilities.
